rooted in education, conservation and sustainability
Our Board of Directors
At Barefoot & Bloomin’ we believe that youth voice is important and it helps guide our work. That idea is reflected in our leadership. Our Board of Directors, Roots & Blooms, is made of adults (the Roots) and middle/high school youth (the Blooms). Read more…

Who We Are
Barefoot & Bloomin’ is a small travelin’ educational backyard farm with an apiary, chickens, rabbits, composting & vermicomposting, and garden beds meant to feed people and pollinators. We often walk barefoot in the garden and invite others to do the same when possible.
Barefoot walking connects you to the earth, promoting grounding, reducing stress and fostering a deep sense of peace.
It is a sensory experience that allows you to feel the soil’s pulse, offering a natural, calming escape from daily life while improving mental and physical well-being.
Barefoot symbolizes our connections with the earth and its positive energy.
What We Do
Barefoot & Bloomin’ provides education outreach for schools, groups and community events – growing connections with nature, gardening, literacy, STEM, and the arts. We also focus on fun ways to practice sustainability and conservation at home and school… helping future leaders and stewards of Earth bloom.

Bloomin‘ is a metaphor for growth, transformation, and resilience.
Just as a flower opens up to reveal its full potential, and a fresh egg protects itself with a bloom – offering protection for life, we too can flourish when nurtured with time, patience, and the right conditions.
Bloomin‘ symbolizes new beginnings, internal growth, the unfolding of inner beauty, and the journey…

Why It’s Important
We want children and adults to have positive interactions with nature. We believe that nature-inspired learning promotes mindfulness, problem solving skills, academic and social skills, and teaches empathy, patience and kindness.
